The Interior — Exam Prep

Sun, Moon and Sky

The sun, the moon and the sky for the youngest scientists: study cards a grown-up can read aloud, the tricky ones, a practice quiz at three levels — Foundation, On-Level, and Challenge — and a lab where you order a day from sunrise to sunrise, sort day sky from night sky, label a sunset, and graph the daylight in each season. Work here, or print it and use a crayon — both count.

A shadow is a clock

Morning. The sun is low in the east, so the shadow stretches out long.

Two things people get wrong

People often think…

The stars go away during the day.

People often think…

The moon changes shape — sometimes it is a sliver and sometimes it is round.

Read the sky

Watch one

A kid’s shadow is very short. What time is it?

  1. Look at the shadow: short or long?
  2. Short. A short shadow means the sun is high up.
  3. The sun is highest in the middle of the day.
  4. So it is about noon. ✓
One sentence, then you move on

Why can you not see stars in the daytime?

Where this goes

Where this lives

Knowing when it gets dark, when to bring a coat, when the days start getting longer again. The sky keeps the same schedule every year.

What this feeds

Next unit is what living things need to stay alive.

Name one thing in the sky you have watched change.

Your practice record — saved on this device

This is your record of the module on screen — it stays here and goes nowhere. Independent means you got it right on the first tap; supported means you got it after the explain-and-retry, or marked ‘I had it’ on a revealed answer. Both count, and neither is a grade. If your teacher asks, copy the row or show them this screen.

The answer key is for a teacher: it prints only from here, for the unit on screen. Print the study packet prints the study pages and a blank quiz — never the answers.
