The Interior — Spanish

One and Many, Big and Little

Make one into many and TWO words change, not one: la silla becomes las sillas. Add a describing word and it goes after the name and copies it as well. Twenty-four cards, a quiz in three tiers and four workshop activities close the K–2 band on the one habit that holds Spanish together — words that belong together copy each other.

When one becomes many, every word changes together

One chair. La silla. You already know this from the last room — the name and its little word, traveling together.

Two things people get wrong

People often think…

To make it plural, add -s to the name and leave the little word alone: la sillas.

People often think…

The describing word stays the same no matter what it describes, the way it does in English.

Make one into many

Watch one

Turn el libro into more than one.

  1. Look at the last letter of libro. It is a vowel — the o.
  2. After a vowel, just add -s: libros.
  3. Now the little word. El becomes los.
  4. Check that both words moved. El → los. Libro → libros. Two changes.
  5. los libros. ✓ If only one of the two words changed, something is missing.
One sentence, then you move on

Why is la sillas wrong, even though sillas is spelled correctly?

Last one — then you’re done here

English says ‘black cats’ with one change. Spanish says ‘los gatos negros’ with three. What is Spanish doing with all that extra work?

This is your record of the module on screen — it stays here and goes nowhere. Independent means you got it right on the first tap; supported means you got it after the explain-and-retry, or marked ‘I had it’ on a revealed answer. Both count, and neither is a grade. If your teacher asks, copy the row or show them this screen.

The answer key is for a teacher: it prints only from here, for the unit on screen. Print the study packet prints the study pages and a blank quiz — never the answers.
